Hi M. Elizabeth. What an interesting topic you're writing about; I look forward to reading more about it as time goes on.

I think writing a blog post/bio in first person makes it more personable in my opinion, but if you're trying to be more businesslike, perhaps third-person's the way to go. I'm going to echo DottyStripes' comment about slipping into first person in the part where you talk about your degree.

I'd recommend combing through the autobiography once or twice more to check for spelling and grammar errors. Sometimes when you read something out loud, you realize what you might've missed!

The beat defense assignment is usually the better draft because it focuses your writing and story on the interests of your audience. It thinks of your audience.

Yet the autobiography is still helpful. It sets your mind in motion. It helps you consider possible beats. It helps you think about “you the author.” It introduces you to the class.

It’s important to use writing to deliver your…

M.Elizabeth!

"M.Elizabeth" sure does sound like someone interesting and creative! I would really like to get to know 'her' however the third-person delivery keeps me at a distance.

An autobiography written in third person seems a contradiction in terms. However, I do understand how this can happen as I, too, originally wrote my 'autobiography' more formally than I should have, thinking the assignment was for a LinkedIn-type bio.

What I like best about your writing is that your personality still seeps through with the reminder that 'creativity is one thing you cannot automate', with the emotionally revealing 'loves her dog Littlefoot more than anything in the world' and even with the fact that you slipped away from the third person…
