How online shopping is different from retail shopping:
Online shopping is the experience of browsing and purchasing items via the web. This has become a trend in the last ten years that has gotten even bigger with companies like Amazon creating two day, one touch experience, right to your door.
Ecommerce experiences can range in usability based on many things but I know for my generation online shopping is more common. We grew up with the internet and use it for many things but one is definitely shopping.
Mobile shopping has become higher in conversions then desktop. This means more people are shopping on their phones. Where will this lead in the future? Is the younger generation going to be shopping primarily on their phones as well? What will happen to in-store retail?
I have been in eCommerce for over five years and have already seen an ever-changing industry. I have even started my own online business using Shopify. The content management system Shopify has allowed over the past couple years for more and more people to create websites and launch their own eCommerce business - easily. This requires very little development if you use the out of the box functionality.
You basically just need a vision and beginner technical skills and can have a website that takes orders. Its pretty cool to see the advancements in eCommerce technically but again this changes the retail world overall to become more digital.
I watched an SNL skit that joked about going to an actual store to get something, I think it was bubblegum or something small, having to wait for it for two days. They laughed when they said, "we could go to a store....A store, whats a store?" As much as that is funny, it is sort of sadly true for some people.
Plan for submission:
Companies like This American life are looking for ‘surprises.’ Something unique and different. On their submission page they even mention they enjoy work that is both funny and sad. “ It describes and documents real things that happen to people.” These stores can range in length of time usually six to twelve minutes long.
What makes this article different from most others to publish is creating a strong narrative. It could involve going into situations to try to figure out the answer to some question.
I want to bring in stories of my own, personalizing my article so people get a better sense of the story through someones point of view.
