Mod 5: Step by step online shopping using Amazon

Updated: Aug 9, 2018

Shopping on amazon has become a beast in the eCommerce world. Prime members have become accustom to getting packages in the mail within two days of purchasing. Amazon has become a virtual powerhouse and hub for almost anything.

Their rewards program using Amazon credit card entitles you to use your points on more and more amazon prime goods - almost as addicting as a drug.

Amazon has eye catching merchandising techniques like recently viewed, you my also like, recommendations, and saved history. If I wanted to order dog food I would easily go to my past orders find the food and press check out...And it arrives it two days. Its that simple.

They even have functionality now to have dog food subscriptions. Basically, that would create one less step. With the subscription functionality you can have dog food delivered every month to your door - without the click of a button.

Amazon is trying to be the first at the digital customer experience in food, retail, and just about every product. They have partnered with Whole foods and local markets to create Prime Pantry. They have created an online retail environment called Prime Wardrobe which allows you to pick out a certain amount of items to try on then return in batches. And they are the number in just about every product because they have competitive price structure.

Amazon has created a hub that is almost virtually impossible to not take part of. If I was given a task to buy a present for an upcoming baby shower - the first thing I would do is go to amazon and type in "baby gift" or "baby boy clothes." I'd browse the category pages, read reviews, and filter on pricing to pick the best gift. Sometimes I'll put a couple things in my shopping cart then pick and choose what I want to purchase before clicking the check out button.

I'm going to echo DottyStripes when I say that if your intent was to have a more step-by-step focused post, it should read a little more instructional. But I'm very glad you created a post about Amazon...the shopping industry can not deny the retail giant that is Amazon!

Another interesting post and certainly spot on. So hard to compete with Amazon! It seems they are doing everything right. While I do not shop online for everything, I do use Amazon because they make it too easy. This relates back to your omnichannel post that described the need for personalization, fast load times and customers' expectations to get everything delivered to their doorsteps quickly and easily.

I have to say from the title I would have expected a more 'step by step' as compared to the commentary. I liked most of what you presented but it only seemed to be instructional or 'step by step' in the last paragraph.

Also - just a little unclear on what you were…
